Local West Australian baking business Miami Bakehouse have been awarded THE BEST FRUIT MINCE PIES in Australia from The Official Great Aussie Pie Competition held in Sydney last week.
The legendary West Australian Miami Bakehouse bakery team were ecstatic to learn of the win with great cheers echoing across the Mandurah-based bakery as the national baking awards were broadcast in a Facebook Live feed from Sydney.
Every Christmas, the baking elves at Miami Bakehouse make delicious Fruit Mince Pies, so with the confidence of customer’s raving reviews from the last few years the team decided to enter the festive treats into the inaugural Christmas Pie category at the Official Great Aussie Pie Awards a few weeks ago.
“It all comes down to the ingredients, many hours of taste-testing and baking skills” said Valentina Franceschetti, Head of the Pastry team. “We know we have a special fruit mince recipe and have worked hard to perfect the flavour over many months in 2020”. With delicious sweet and buttery shortbread pastry, filled with a spiced fruit mince recipe of juicy currants and sultanas the judges awarded the Fruit Mince Pies based on their criteria for sensory appeal, smell, taste, texture and aftertaste. The team certainly have their work cut-out over the next few weeks to meet pre-order demand. With Christmas only a few weeks away, the specialist baking team at Miami Bakehouse are even more busy than usual keeping up with the demand for their Fruit Mince Pie gift boxes.
Christmas has truly come early for the Miami Bakehouse team this year, with their new Fruit Mince Cheesecake also bringing home a GOLD award from the 2020 Perth Royal Food Awards held in November.
