The Great Aussie Pie Competition, which has been running since 1989, is known for its rigorous judging process. Over four days, more than 10 expert judges thoroughly assessed every pie on key criteria such as appearance, pastry quality, filling, and creativity.
Here’s what the judges looked for:
Appearance: Overall presentation and appeal.
Pastry: Texture, flavour, and its ability to hold the filling without breaking.
Filling: Freshness, flavour balance, and creativity, focusing on originality.
Creativity: The use of both traditional and innovative ingredients to create something unique.
Miami Bakehouse submitted a variety of unique gourmet pie flavours, including Ginger Chilli Pork, Garlic Prawn, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Coconut Chicken Curry among its 17 entries.
