Miami Bakehouse Wins Big at the Great Aussie Pie Competition

The Great Aussie Pie Competition has become one of the most respected food competitions in the country, celebrating the very best in pies, sausage rolls, and pasties. Now in its 36th year, the event continues to showcase the skill and creativity of Australia's top bakers.

The Great Aussie Pie Competition in Sydney

This year, the event took place at Fine Food Australia in Sydney and was bigger than ever, attracting more than 1,500 entries. Over four days, 17 expert judges carefully assessed each bake on everything from pastry quality and baked finish to filling stability, flavour, and aroma. In the gourmet categories, creativity and innovation were also key. At the end of it all, one standout bakery in each category was crowned the overall winner.

Miami Bakehouse Takes Out National Titles

Miami Bakehouse is proud to have come away with Two National Category Titles this year, recognised as the best in Australia for our Traditional Pastie and for our Gourmet Apple & Raspberry Pie.

On top of those wins, we earned an incredible 11 medals from 11 entries, including Gold for recipes like our Coconut Chicken Curry, Ginger Chilli Pork, Sri Lankan Prawn Curry, Kangaroo & Couscous, Moroccan Lamb Pie, and of course, our champion Traditional Pastie. Even our much-loved Sausage Roll, and classic Apple Pie were recognised with medals.

At Miami Bakehouse, competitions aren’t just about medals. They’re about creativity, innovation, and challenging ourselves to think differently about what a pie can be. Over the years, our bakers have dreamed up everything from the Reuben Pie (a nod to the iconic New York sandwich that won Gold in its debut year) to quirky favourites like the Cheeseburger Pie, Kangaroo & Juniper Berry Pie, and our all-time favourite Garlic Prawn Pie. Our customers are the real winners, who get to enjoy our creations, as Pie of the Week.

An Award-Winning Legacy

These latest achievements add to Miami Bakehouse’s tally of more than 1,100 national and state awards, built over 21 years of competing at the highest level. And while we’re incredibly proud of the recognition, our focus is always on what comes next, dreaming up new flavours and recipes to surprise and delight pie lovers across Western Australia.
