Bake -it 'till they make it!
Apprentices from MIAMI BAKEHOUSE based in the city of Mandurah entered the Perth Royal Show Food Awards in November 2020.

The Perth Royal Food Awards form part of the mission of the Royal Agricultural Society of WA (RASWA) to encourage and reward excellence and support a viable and prosperous future for agricultural communities.
Whilst Covid-19 almost saw the cancellation of this prestigious event earlier this year, the teams were ready to take-on the challenge and test their developing pastry and bread skills against the best of the best in WA.
This year’s three apprentices from Miami Bakehouse, Samantha Harvey, Anthony Barber and Rosanna Pacoma went head-to-head for the coveted Apprentice categories at this year’s Baking Industry Bread & Pastry Awards.

All three are studying a Certificate III in Baking, combined bread and pastry cooking at South Metropolitan Tafe.
Rosanna Pacoma, first year apprentice, beat her Miami Bakehouse peers and won a GOLD medal for her White Sandwich Loaf, with a bronze awarded to both Samantha and Anthony.
Samantha Harvey won GOLD medal for her Traditional Vienna White loaf whilst Anthony Barber took the SILVER award.
Anthony Barker also claimed a SILVER medal for his decorated Birthday Cake – a delicious Lemon and Coconut combination.
In addition to the medal haul, we are delighted to announce two CHAMPION awards. Third year apprentice Samantha Harvey who took out The Royal Agricultural Society of WA Trophy for Champion Loaf Exhibited by an Apprentice and second year apprentice Anthony Barber, won The 2020 Perth Royal Bread & Pastry Awards Most Successful Apprentice Exhibitor.
Mr David Palmer, Co-owner of Miami Bakehouse said ‘We believe in giving our apprentices every opportunity to showcase their growing baking and pastry skills to the highest standards and we are delighted to see the great results in 2020. Development of trade skills in this essential food industry has always been an enormous part of our business focus.’
